getting rid of the dark and dated finishes completely changed the energy in this home.
When our clients purchased this home, they knew there was work they wanted to undertake to make it feel their own - they just weren’t entirely sure how to get there.
The biggest area of complaint was how dark the home felt. We knew that bringing in lighter and fresher finishes was going to create dramatic change. The other major issue was the cramped laundry room and non-existent mudroom. So we opted to remove a 2nd main floor powder room that was being under-utilized, knock down the walls that currently sepeated the small laundry room from the entry to the garage, to create a large, inviting and functional laundry/mudroom. We also designed the kitchen cabinetry to hide the door leading into the laundry/mudroom, to create a seamless look to the kitchen.
All the dated arches and half walls were removed on the main floor. New fireplaces, mantles and stonework were updated. The builder grade railings were replaced with beautiful custom painted spindles and handrails. And of course, no renovation is properly completed without the perfect furnishings and accessories.
